Harry B. "Duke" Barnes,  91, formerly of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 20,  2016 in Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA. He was born March 17, 1924 in Cross Keys, NJ to the late Henry S. P. and Mabel Virginia Simpkins Barnes.

Harry was a truck driver for the Middle Atlantic Millwork Co. which later became Anderson Windows and belonged to the teamsters Local 429. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Active in fire service, Harry was a  life member of fire police, ambulance and Fire Company Union #1 of Medford, NJ; former president and life member of the Cumberland County Volunteer Fireman's Association; former president and part time driver for the Goodwill Fire Co. # 44; life member of the South Middleton Fire Company; and he belonged to the NJ State Fireman's Association. In addition, Harry was an avid bingo player at the local fire stations.  He served his country in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre including France , Belgium, and Germany where he attained the rank of corporal.

He is survived by 4 sons: Richard L. of AZ,  Wayne B. of Carlisle,  Randall A. of Boiling Springs and Douglas E. of Newville; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Rose Marie Barnes of Medford, NJ. He is predeceased by 3 siblings: Olin Barnes, Aaron Barnes and Mabel Bickings.

Funeral services will be held  Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA, 17065 with Rev. Daniel Dennis officiating. There will be a viewing  from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
