Gretna Bear

Gretna G. Bear, 91, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, PA passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 in the Sara A. Todd Memorial Home. She was born September 26, 1926 in Gardners to the late Norman and Mary (Witherow) Smith and was the widow of Bruce J. Bear, who passed away February 24, 2007.

Gretna was a beautician out of her home from 1971 until 1985 and worked for Holly Woodcrafters. She loved to crochet afghans and make crafts, especially making angels out of peanut butter jars, Aspirin bottles and toilet paper covering and cowboys from miniature beer bottles. Gretna was a diehard Phillies fan.

She is survived by her children, Bruce W. Bear of Mt. Holly Springs and Karen Powles of Lake Meade; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lester Smith of Newville and Walter Smith of Toland. In addition to her husband, Gretna is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kim Kuhn and siblings, William and Janet Smith.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
