Glenn Leroy Saphore, 72, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home in Monroe Twp. He was born in Churchtown, August 5, 1941 to the late David W. and Alice A. Greenwood Saphore Sr. Glenn was a graduate of the Cumberland Valley High School Class of 1959. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer with twenty years of service and was also employed by and retired from the Carlisle Barracks.
Glenn is survived by two sisters, Theeta P. Nelson of Chicago, Il and Muriel (Charles) Dowd of Newville and four brothers, Daniel W. Jr. of Carlisle, Richard C., Paul R., and Marlin K. Saphore, all of Churchtown. He was predeceased by nine brothers; Robert F., Eugene D., Harold W., Albert D., Alvin M., John A., Terry J., Kenneth R. and Francis L. Saphore.
Graveside services will be held in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp., on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Glenn Gross officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Healthcare, 220 Wilson St. Suite 100, Carlisle, PA 17013, or to the Wounded Warriors Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, or a charity of your choice.
