Geraldine Smith

Geraldine M. Smith, 77, of Newville, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the UPMC Pinnacle West Shore after a short fight with cancer. She was born November 6, 1940 in Stoughstown, to the late Laurie F. and Bertha V. (Armold) Smith.

Geraldine worked at Mountain Lakes Farm Market, Plainfield,  Brandt’s Market and Stone’s Market and Dollar General, all in Newville. She retired from Nell’s Market, Carlisle in 2003 and was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg. She had a lot of hobbies including, making live Christmas wreaths for friends, family and local businesses , sewing and quilting, crafts and baking.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Dorsey of Plainfield and son, Travis Smith and companion Stacy Salisbury of Newville; two grandsons, Thomas Dorsey Jr. and companion Amanda Jumper of Carlisle and Dustin Dorsey and companion Kristi Poe of Shippensburg; and four great grandchildren Brianna, Bently, Nevaeh, and Emma; three brothers, Lowrie, Paul and Eugene Smith all of Newville and three sisters, Frances Oiler, Marie Lehman of Newville, and Dorothy Malloy of Carlisle.  She is also survived by her faithful dogs, Buster and Sydney and her two cats, Crockpot and Marble.  She was preceded in death by a  great-granddaughter, Abby Lee and sister, Hazel Smith.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.,  501 N. Baltimore Ave. Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
