Gay Singleton Ward

Gay Singleton Ward, 88, recently of Carlisle, PA, moved to her heavenly home after saying goodbye to her family on April 14, 2025. Gay was born on February 18, 1937, to Albert Martin Singleton and Dorothy Thelma Atchinson in Collingdale, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughter Karen Ward Rowe (Bob), of Carlisle, PA, son, William A. Ward, Jr (Kerrie) of Locust Grove, GA, and son, John Martin Ward of Senioa, GA. Her grandchildren Wes, Alyssa, Hayden, Lindsey, Reagan, Billy, Sammy, Lila, and Ward, will miss their “MomMom”.

Gay graduated in 1955 from Collingdale High School, Delaware County, PA and married her high school sweetheart William Arthur Ward in 1961 while Bill was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii serving in the United States Army. Gay and Bill were married for 56 years and together raised a family, built a successful general contracting business, and were members of the Church of the Nazarene. They started their family in Collingdale, later moving to West Chester, PA, then Earlville, MD, before eventually settling in Locust Grove, Georgia. After Bill’s passing in 2017, Gay moved to Carlisle to live with Karen and Bob. She spent her final days at Orrstown Personal Care Home in Orrstown, PA.

Gay truly lived up to her name—always cheerful and quick to laugh. She loved entertaining family and friends, crafting, volunteering, and was an avid Bridge player. Her children and grandchildren still prepare many of her delicious recipes. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.

A private interment will be held on a later date at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
