Fred Cassidy, Jr.

Fred R. Cassidy, Jr., 80, formerly of Delaware County, PA and Gardners, PA ,died on Monday, February 25, 2013 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Carlisle, PA.  He was born on September 29, 1932 in Middletown Twp., Delaware Co. PA to the late Fred R. and Catherine McGuckin Cassidy, Sr. and was preceded by a sister Jane Cassidy.
Fred had worked for 15 yrs. as a custodian for the Rose Tree School District and as a sexton for the Allison United Methodist Church in Carlisle, PA.  He was a Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Fred was of the Catholic faith and attended some of the catholic churches in Delaware County and also attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle, PA.
Fred was a member of the VFW Post # 7343 and the American Legion Post #674, both of Mt. Holly Springs, PA.  He loved the beaches at Wildwood, NJ, old movies, photography and reading mystery novels.
He is survived by his loving wife, R. Jane Crum Lewis Cassidy of Gardners, PA; a daughter, Mary Jane Cassidy-Denn and her husband Charles of Rising Sun, MD; his brother John Cassidy of Prospect Park, PA; two sisters, Catherine Cassidy of Prospect Park, PA and Dorothy Ewing of Berryville, VA; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Hunt and Joseph Lafferty and four great grandchildren, Ryan Poole, Tara Hunt, Alex Hunt and Leonardo Joseph Lafferty.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Shrine Church, 152 East Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA.  Celebrant will be the Rev. Father Dwight D. Schlaline.  Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Arendtsville, PA.  The famly will receive relatives and friends following the mass.  The family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Central PA Regional Office, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Ste 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or American Lung Association, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.  Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
