Frank “Sandy” Clayton Myers, Jr., 95, of Dillsburg, PA, died at home on Saturday, September 26, 2015, surrounded by members of his family.
Frank was born on June 27, 1920 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of Frank C. and Mary Leanora (Harvey) Myers of Caldwell, NJ. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Essex Fells, NJ.
Frank graduated from Dartmouth College and served in the Army during World War II in the 292nd Ordnance Maintenance Company in the Pacific Theatre. He and his wife, Almira (Miller) Myers were married in 1949 and began farming outside York Springs.
He was a longtime member of the York Springs Lions Club and the Ye Olde Sulphur Spa Historical Society. He also served on the Bermudian Springs School Board and the Latimore Township Zoning Board. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history, genealogy, crossword puzzles, travel, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Almira Miller Myers, and 5 children: Dora (Toru) Kawate; Frank C. Myers III; Elizabeth (Jim) Kendall; Mary Eve Myers; and Andrea Myers; 11 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren with one expected soon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Myers Hayes, and a sister, Mary Leanora Hornor.
