Frances Jean Verdekal, 91, of Penn Twp., Carlisle passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She was the widow of Albert L. Verdekal who passed away in 1980. Frances was born August 9, 1921 in Carlisle, to the late William and Brenda Mae Leidigh Brillhart.
She was employed at the former Carlisle Shoe Co., was a great cook, enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and loved the seashore and her cabin in Perry County. Most important to her was her family, and she will be missed by all.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Lois Ann (Leon R.) Littlehale of Marietta, PA; two step-sons, Vincent (Patricia) Verdekal of San Antonio, TX and Lawrence L. (Louise) Verdekal of Carlisle. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her sister, Anna Mae Faught of Carlisle. She was predeceased by her son, James L. Verdekal; a step-son, Roland A. Verdekal; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with the Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, West Pennsboro Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, P.O. Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
