Fern M. Gutshall

Fern M. Gutshall, 93, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away on March 17, 2025, in the UPMC Carlisle Hospital. She was born February 20, 1932, in Carlisle to the late Tolbert and Ida (Smith) Murphy and was the widow of Ralph Gutshall, Jr., who passed away in February of 2016.

Fern was a Boiling Springs High School graduate class of 1949 and was a member of the St John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, and watching the birds.

Surviving are her children, Tina Gutshall of Boiling Springs, with whom she lived, and Karen (Ken) Lenhart of York, PA; grandson, Kenny Lenhart; great granddaughter, Scarlett Lenhart; her grand pup, Laci; and brother, Patrick Murphy of Boiling Springs. In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was preceded in death by her siblings, Timothy Murphy, Terry Murphy, Jane Myers, and Fay Finkey.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the St John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 111 Walnut Street, Boiling Springs, PA 17007 with Pastor Virginia Cover officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, and burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, St John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Mt. Holly Springs.
