Fern A Gardner

Fern A. Gardner, 92, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away on February, 17, 2023 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 24, 1930 in Cumberland County to the late Sylvester and Ethel (Verow) Kuhn and was the widow of Virden C. Gardner, who passed away in 2013.

Fern worked for the Carlisle Hospital as a director with over twenty-six years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, where she was very active and coordinated turkey dinners. Fern was the treasurer of the civic association, Mt. Holly Springs, until the age of 87. Additionally, Fern was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs Park and Recreation and Borough Council. She loved spending time with her family, visiting friends, loved to cook, play cards, and listen to music. Fern was a very caring person, always helping people when in need.

Surviving is her son Brian C. Gardner (Paula) of Carlisle; grandchildren, Jennifer Dunbar-Gilfus, Jeremy, Nathan, and Cory Gardner; great-grandchild, Skye Gardner. Also surviving is her sister, Marcia Heckert (Marlin) of Mt. Holly Springs, son-in-law, Ken Dunbar of Virginia, nieces, Megan Tate and Melanie Heckert, great-nephews, Cameron and Owen, and great-nieces, Brynlee and Harper. In addition to her husband, Fern was preceded in death by her children, Dennis A. Gardner (Debbie) and Denise A. Dunbar, brothers, Ronald and Gerald Kuhn, and great-nephew, Trace Tate.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Avenue, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Daniel Murray officiating. A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Burial will be held in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
