Evelyn Louise Martin

Evelyn Louise (Evie) Martin, 96, of Newville, PA, passed away on March 31, 2024, in her residence. She was born April 23, 1927, in Penn Twp., Cumberland County to the late Merrel and Mildred (Hance) Yoter and was the widow of Oliver Martin.

Evelyn was a Carlisle High School Graduate, class of 1945, and a graduate of Kendell Beauty School. She opened her own hair salon in 1958, called Evies Cut and Curls, and operated that until she was 88, retiring in 2016. Also, she was the beautician for Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. She loved quilting and was an excellent cook. Evelyn loved her family and enjoyed hosting the holidays for everyone. She was a life member of the Dickinson Presbyterian Church and Penn Township Fire Company.

Surviving Evelyn is her daughter, Mary B. Nye (Stan) of Newville; grandchildren, Chris Campbell, and Craig Martin; great grandchildren, Oliver Martin, Cameron and Nathan Campbell; sister, Jean Harrison of Carlisle; daughter in law, Pat Martin of Newville. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Gary O, Martin.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Dickinson Presbyterian Church, 12 Church Road, Carlisle, PA 17015 with Pastor Neil McCulloch officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services and burial will be held in the Dickinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
