Evelyn Gleim

Evelyn Alverta Gleim, 100, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Manor Care. She was born September 17, 1917 in Carlisle, PA to the late Clarence M. and Bessie Mae (Shope) Worley. Evelyn was predeceased by her husbands, Charles Dunkle who passed away in 1953 and Legrand Gleim who died on September 11, 1972.

During her lifetime, Evelyn worked for the Carlisle Shoe Company and was a cook at the Dickinson College Snack Bar. She was the oldest member of the Carlisle First Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by her son, Robert P. Dunkle Sr. of Newville; grandchildren, Robert Dunkle Jr. and Dana Billet, both of Carlisle; three great-grandchildren, Whitney and Josh Fickes, and Kelsey Dunkle; great-great-grandson, Eli Fickes; and a niece, Gloria Ross of Florida. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Rose Ann Dunkle who passed away December 8, 2017 and her siblings: Paul and Pauline Worley, Mary Prosser, Violet Stimeling and Miriam Minnich .

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00a.m. in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Jim Abe officiating. Interment will be in the Plainfield Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
