Evelyn Mae Fahnestock, 87, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in her home. She was born October 3, 1927 in Penn Twp., PA to the late Clarence “Happy” and Mary Ellen Danner Rhoads.
Evelyn was a member of the South Fairview First Church of God. She had a God given talent playing the organ and piano which she played by ear for over 70 years. She loved gardening, and cooking and baking for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Curtis “Jack” Fahnestock; a son, E. James Fahnestock of Mt. Holly Springs; three daughters, Gail E. (Larry)Freeland of Mechanicsburg, Luann S. (Bob) Brutko and Amy J. Fahnestock, both of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Heath Freeland, Jill Evans, Danielle Keel, Sara Fahnestock, Jennifer Herman, Jessica Brutko, Allysa Mae Walker, Ezra Walker and Rayce Kalinich; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend since childhood, Joyce Lopp. Evelyn was predeceased by two brothers, Robert H. and Glenn M. Rhoads.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the South Fairview First Church of God Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, South Fairview First Church of God, 1212 Centerville Road, Newville, PA 17241.
