Esther McNaughton

Esther M. McNaughton, 86, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her home. She was born May 21, 1927 in Harrisburg to the late Harry and Mary Jane Davies Welcomer and was the widow of Russell J. McNaughton, who passed away in February 1993.

Esther owned and operated her own hair salon in Carlisle. After retirement, she was a caretaker for Howard Bivens and was a former employee of CPARC. A member of the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, she was a former choir director, working with the youth and senior choirs. Esther enjoyed music, playing the guitar and singing. Most important to her was her family; she loved them dearly.

Surviving are six children: William R. (Darlene) McNaughton of Carlisle; Robin L. (Deena) McNaughton of Orrstown; Steven M. (Tina) McNaughton of New Oxford; Sheridan M. (David) Jumper of Carlisle; Vicki L. McNaughton of Newville; and Penny S. (Harry) Duprey of Carlisle. Also surviving is a brother, Harry Welcomer of Newport; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. Esther was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Jane Roush and Harvey Welcomer.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Holly Springs, Church of God, 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs 17065 with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. There will be a viewing Monday, August 26, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt Holly Springs, PA 17065.
