Ephraim S. Weaver Jr., 87, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born October 20, 1925 in Shamokin, PA to the late Ephraim Sr. and Gertrude Stahl Weaver.
Ephraim was a 1943 graduate of Shamokin High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and a Master’s degree from Shippensburg University. His first year of teaching was at Filey’s, a one room school house that closed after his first year of employment. After 33 years in education, Ephraim retired from the Mechanicsburg School District where he was a principal at Upper Allen and Broad St. Schools. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, VFW 6704, American Legion Post 109 and a former member of PSEA. A sports enthusiast, Ephraim loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and bowled a perfect game at 17 years of age. Ephraim was a Navy WWII veteran.
Ephraim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Geraldine Hess Weaver and two sons, Shannon E. Weaver III (Barb) and David S. Weaver ( Lori), all of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are 4 granddaughters: Jessica Ann Weaver, Amanda Sue Brudowsky, Christine Elizabeth Weaver and Riley Addison Weaver, and 3 great grandchildren: Grady Weaver, Brinley Brudowsky and Bennett Weaver.
Services will be held at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Randall J. Marburger officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Sunday, September 22 from 6 until 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Rolling Green Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110-2822.
