Ellis Snare

Ellis Jay Snare, 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away in the UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg. Born December 13, 1935 in Woodbury Twp., PA to the late Elvin H. and Florence Ruth (Snowberger) Snare, he is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Janice L.(Minnich) Snare.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Terre J. Snare (Brenda) of Hershey, PA, Allen D. Snare (Becky) of Dillsburg, PA and Jill L. Snare (Sandy) of Mechanicsburg, PA ; grandchildren, Jenna Cleary (John), Dustin Snare (Lauren) and Jarrett Snare (Katie); grandson-in-law, Todd Hobe, four great-grandchildren and sister, Eleanor Weaver of Bridgewater, VA. He was predeceased by his brother, Elvin Snare Jr. and his granddaughter, Jaime Hobe.

A biology teacher for 35 years, Ellis retired from the CV School District. He loved to travel and collected memorabilia from his many trips. He was especially proud of his participation in the educational Earthwatch programs where he helped to conduct scientific research in Borneo, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, the Galapagos Islands, Belize and Australia. Ellis dearly loved his cats and had a " green thumb" for growing plants.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Janice will welcome visitors in her home anytime after Nov. 11, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Spring Rescue and Ambulance Association,  12 Eleanor Dr., PO Box 177, New Kingstown, PA 17072.
