Elizabeth Gleim, 98, of Charleston, SC, passed away Sunday, June 16 at Horizon Bay Senior Living, Charleston. She was the widow of Millard Gleim of Bangor, PA. He died in 1982 at age 74. Elizabeth was born in Stone Church, PA, on October 9, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Reimer.
Elizabeth was an honors graduate from both Bangor High School in 1931 and Maryville College, TN in 1935. She was employed by the Bangor Area School District as a language teacher. Elizabeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bangor, and the John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston.
She was often called Betty, Mom, and Grandma Gleim. This special lady was loved and admired by family and many friends. Some of her favorite activities were sewing (including her own wedding dress), gardening, baking, and cooking. Her wonderful meals were enjoyed by many.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Shirley Eden of Old Orchard Manor Care, Easton, PA and her son, Howard F. (Frank) Gleim of Kingston, PA. Grandma Gleim also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Barry and James, and four sisters, Geraldine Brinker, Lila Brinker, Mildred Evans, and Alice Buskirk.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22 at 2:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with Rev. Joe Kugle officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. There will be viewing 1 hour prior to services on Saturday.
