Edward E. Spies, 74, of Gardners, PA, passed away on February 8, 2024, in his residence. He was born February 11, 1949, in Cumberland, Maryland, to the late Walter Henry and Rose (Longsdon) Spies. He was the widower of Patricia Rambler.

Edward retired from M & M Mars in Elizabethtown after 19 years. He was a ranger at the Bashore Boy Scout Reservation in Jonestown from 1985-1987. Following his retirement, Edward enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland, serving as the president of the American Fiddle and Bluegrass Association (AFBA) for a time.  Edward will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Surviving are his children, Wayne (Sheri) Spies of Elizabethtown, Rebecca (Chris) Cegielski of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Nathaniel Spies of Newville; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Robert Spies of Maryland; and first wife, Ruth (Smith) Spies. In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, Patrick and William Spies.
