Dorothy J. Pyle, 90, of Carlisle, PA passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home. She was born October 11, 1924 in Ohio, to the late Carl & Elizabeth Sheaffer Hershey. Dorothy retired from the Carlisle School District where she was employed as head cook in high school cafeteria and was also a former employee of the Grinders Coffee Shop at Hershey Park. Dorothy led an active life, working in her yard, collecting and refinishing antiques and managed a booth at the former Silver Spring Flea Market. She was an avid baker of pies and loved her family dearly.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Paul H. (Kathy) Pyle of Palmyra and a daughter, Susanne (Robert) Stover of Gardners. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Scott (Amy) Stover of Georgia, Rebecca Coulson of Gardners, Trevor (Misaki) Pyle of Okinawa, Japan, Thea (Ben) Rogers of Palmyra and Tate Pyle of Oregon; and three great grandchildren, Tyler Stover and Owen and Morgan Coulson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Edward Dyche officiating. Interment will be in the Letort Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2408 A. Park Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
