Dorothee Kathryn Debolt passed away peacefully on January 1, 2014 at age 95, while spending Christmas with family in Minnesota. She was kind and loving to all; always positive, never negative. Throughout life, her activities focused on family. She helped raise siblings. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She nurtured and guided grandsons. And, within days of her passing, she was babysitting great-grandsons. Her nickname, Gabar was given to her by a grandson as a toddler trying to say grandma over 30 years ago.
Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Each year, including the one just past, she made and shipped dozens of Christmas cookies to family and friends around the country. For the past 30 years or more, she spent Christmas with family in Minnesota. Her other pastimes were reading, and she loved playing Scrabble and Words With Friends.
Dorothee was born on March 19, 1918 and grew up in Mt. Holly Springs, PA. She graduated from Carlisle High School and nursing school at Philadelphia General Hospital. She married Robert, a dentist in Mt. Holly Springs, in 1941. She was a Registered Nurse and volunteered at Army hospitals during World War II. Most recently, she resided in Lebanon, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert L. DeBolt, brothers Robert Fahnestock, Theodore Fahnestock and John Fahnestock, sister Bernice Cawley, and her father and mother, Ellis and Maude Fahnestock.
She is survived by a daughter Sue (Rodney) Roath of St. Bonifacius, MN, grandson Brian (Lisa) Roath and great grandson Charley of Mound, MN, grandson Bradley (Adriana Brasoava, fiancée) of Maple Grove, MN, and grandson Brendan (Nicole) Roath and great grandsons Carson and Weston of Maple Grove, MN.
