Doris M. Keck

Doris M. Keck, 91, of Newville, PA, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 31, 1932, to the late Mary Rosenberry.

Doris and her late husband (Luther Keck Sr.) owned and operated Keck’s General Store in Newville, over 35 years, where she remained an integral part of the daily operation until her retirement in March 2020.

 Doris was a life member of the Kennedy Valley Church of God, Landisburg. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family as well as many in the neighborhood. Doris’s feisty and caring personality made her loved by many in the community, where she was affectingly known by all as Gram Keck.

Surviving Doris are her children, Stanley (Debra) Smith of Shippensburg, Kenny (Vicki Bloser) Smith of Newville, Tammy (Steven) Hammond of Newville, and Luther (Roxanne) Keck Jr. of Shippensburg; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sharon) Smith, Jason (Desiree) Smith, April (Shane) Wildasin, Trista Smith, Natasha (Charles) Bitner, Stanley (Danielle) Smith Jr., Devin (Crystal) Smith, Daniel (Jessica) Smith; great-grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Rowe (Blayze), Hennessy Strine, Sylvia Smith, Stanley Smith III, Madilynn Smith, Casyn Smith, Liam Smith, Brynlee Smith, Memphis Smith and step grandkids Madison Pelletier, Denise Beland. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Richard Smith; and brother, Bill Rosenberry.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Mike Faust officiating. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kennedy Valley Church of God, 4408 Valley Rd. Shermans Dale, PA  17090, or Centerville Lutheran Church, 1874 Walnut Bottom Rd., Newville, PA 17241.
