Donald L. Burd

Donald L. “Porky” Burd, 78, formerly of Carlisle and Newville, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Green Ridge Village, Newville. He was born in Carlisle on May 20, 1935 to the late Chester and Sarah Brenneman Burd and was the widower of Frances M. Burd who died in July of 2009. A Legend car racing enthusiast, he also loved horses and enjoyed raising them.

Donald is survived by his son, Gregory L. Burd (Cathy) of Boiling Springs; a granddaughter, Amy Staver (Jack) of Newville and two great grandchildren, Haley and Owen Staver. Also surviving are three siblings, a brother, Claude Burd and two sisters, Shirley Crull and Linda Vincent, all of Carlisle. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Lloyd and a brother, Robert Burd.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Donald’s honor may be made to the Injured Drivers Fund, York County Racing Club, 568 Yale St., York, PA 17403.
