Donald Rice

Donald C. Rice, 90, of Gardners, PA passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle. He was born April 6, 1925 in Biglerville, PA to the late Ralph and Margaret A. Cluck Rice Sr.

Donald was a graduate of Biglerville High School class of 1942. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Fruit Growers Association. Donald grew a variety of fruits and he continued to farm until he was 88 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. McKinney Rice of Gardners; a daughter, Martha (David) Tuckey of Gardners; 4 grandchildren, Jason Lebo, and Amanda, Ashley and Amy Tuckey; 4 great grandchildren, Hayden and Arianna Tuckey, Austin Marshall and Braelyn Lebo. Also surviving are 6 siblings: Robert Rice of Mechanicsburg, Ronald Rice and Joyce Wertz, both of Biglerville, Clifford Rice of Bendersville, Betty Culp of Gardners and Barbara May of Gettysburg. Donald was predeceased by a son, James D. Rice, who passed away on August 21, 1978; a daughter, Jane L. Lebo who passed away November 25, 1990; 3 brothers, Wally, Ralph Jr. and Harold; and 5 sisters, Katherine Pitzer, Evelyn Orner, Mildred Taylor, Ruth Starner and Mary Carey.

Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev.
