Donald F. Pratt, 91, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 in the Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community. He was born December 15, 1923 in Mt. Holly Springs to the late Guy L. and Ruth E. Noggle Pratt.
A graduate of Boiling Springs High School Class of 1943, Kutztown Teachers College Class of 1947 and the Columbia University Class of 1950, Donald, an art teacher with 30 years of service, retired from the Pleasantville School District in NY. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church where he participated in the Dolphins Ministry and the church choir. Don was also a member of the Mt. Holly Springs Golden Age Club. He served in the US Navy during WWII. From July 1943 to April 1946 he worked as an operating room technician and a hospital corpsman and Donald also served in the South Pacific on the USS Thomas Jefferson during the Okinawa invasion.
Donald is survived his sister, Grovene Starner of Carlisle; by 2 nieces and 1 nephew and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Mixell who passed away October 2014.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM in his church, 202 W. Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs with Rev. Edward B. Alwine officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to his church or the Citizens Fire Company, 100 Chestnut St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
