Donald L. “Don” Brion, 72, of Carlisle, PA died suddenly on Sunday, January 20, 2013 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Blossburg, PA on September 25, 1940 to the late F. Earl and Ethel M. Edmister Brion.
Don was a retired Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service in 1982 and was currently serving on the Carlisle Barricks Retiree Council. He served in the Air Force during the Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam Conflict.
During Don’s civilian life he worked as a T.V. repair tech for the Tidewater Electronics and Night Owl Companies in Hampton, VA. Also he worked for 20 years for the former Commonwealth Communications Company as a PBX Tech and also as Manager in Harrisburg, PA.
He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carlisle, PA and he served on the following committees, Communion Distribution Assistant, Lector, Usher, Greeter, Wednesday evening meals for the homeless, and property management. He was a member of the Cumberland Star Lodge #197 F&AM, Carlisle, Scottish Rite and the Harrisburg Consistory (Stage crew and as a audio technician). He was a former Boy Scout Assistant with Troop #170 in Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
In Don’s free time he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He and his wife Doris both enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for the #24 car of Jeff Gordon.
Don is survived by his loving wife Doris M. Kreger Brion and his son Daniel L. and his wife Rae Brion of Middletown, PA and is survived by a sister Lola Mertes and her husband Lou of Greenboro, NC and there two daughters, Cindy and Deborah. But most of all he is survived by his three grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew and Nicole Brion the love’s of his life.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:30 AM in his church, 201 W. Louther St., Carlisle, PA. Officiating will be his pastor the Reverend Timothy W. Sadler. Interment will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, N. Annville, PA. The family will be receiving relatives and friends in the church’s parlor from 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM when Masonic Services will start in the church’s parlor by the Cumberland Star Lodge.
The family wishes memorial contribution made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carlisle. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
