David Shank

David D. Shank, 70, of Newville, passed away May 12, 2014 with his fiancée, family and friends by his side. He was born March 29, 1944 in Champaign, IL to the late David and Lula Gochenour Shank. David graduated from Shippensburg High School and retired from the United Telephone Co. in Carlisle with 44 years of service.  He was a member of the Carlisle BPOE #578 and attended the Capital Area Christian Church, Mechanicsburg. David enjoyed golfing and fishing at Chincoteague, VA, going on vacations, karaoke at the Elks Lodge, and being home with his beloved pets.

David is survived; two sons, Matt (Louann) Shank of Newville, and Jason (Kim) Shank of Dry Run. David loved his granddaughters, Halle, Lauren and Keira. David is also survived by his faithful companion, Janet Hoover of Newville and her children; Barry (Lisa) Hoover Jr. of Carlisle; Lora (Gerold) Dupert of Shippensburg; Bradley (Lisa) Hoover of MD; Brett Hoover of Carlisle; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grand children; and a deceased son Brandon Hoover.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19, at 11:00 AM, in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery, A viewing will be held Monday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
