David Walker Duerr, 85, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home. He was born March 9, 1929 in Pittsburgh to the late Lyman C. and Helen Hatch Duerr.
David graduated from Shippensburg Teachers College, received his masters degree from West Virginia University and retired from Carlisle Area School District after 30 years as a biology teacher. He was predeceased in death by his wife Genevieve Duerr who passed away July 15, 2005, they were married for 57 years and spent 20 years as snowbirds in McAllen, TX. They participated in many activities especially the Senior Olympics. He has been taking care of his 18 acres and loved his John Deere Tractor.
He is survived by 2 sons, Duane D. (Linda) Duerr of Aspers and Eric D. (Marisol) Duerr of Arlington, VA; 2 daughters, Dawn Rutkowski of Pittsburgh and Roxanne Lange of Newville; a sister, Geraldine Mixter of Andover, OH and a brother, Robert Duerr of GA. David was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Weary.
