Darlene Kempf

Darlene L. (Ewing) Kempf, 78, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 in UPMC Carlisle. She was born July 4, 1942 in Dillsburg to the late Lester R. and Mildred I. (Enck) Ewing and was married to the late Raymond B. Kempf for 42 years.

Darlene, in her earlier years, worked at George’s Cleaners. She worked with her late husband, R. B. Kempf, in the trash removal business for over 40 years. Darlene belonged to motorcycle and snowmobile clubs in northern Pennsylvania until they relocated to Carlisle. She enjoyed time with family and friends, working in her flower gardens and working with crafts.

Surviving are her stepchildren, Sharon (Jim) LaPersoneri of Indian Harbour Beach, FL and Gary B. (Barbara) Kempf of Bumpass, VA; step-grandson, Troy R. LaPersonerie of Los Angeles, CA; and siblings, Shirley L. Bretz of Carlisle, Sylvia M. Troutman of Hummesltown, Pauline E. Mentzer of Mechanicsburg, Mary R. Hoon of Carlisle, Marlin L. Ewing of Carlisle, Floyd L. Ewing of Mechanicsburg and Dale E. Ewing of Gardners. Darlene was preceded in death by siblings Lucille E. Sheriff and Gary L. Ewing and stepson James R. Kempf.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17109 with the Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Goodwill EMS, 519 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or Carlisle Regional Cancer Center, 25 Sprint Dr., Carlisle, PA 17015.
