Dale Markel

Dale W. Markel, 80, formerly of Gardners, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Forest Park Health Center & Rehabilitation. He was born October 22, 1933 in Dover Twp., PA to the late David and Bertha Kinter Markel and was predeceased by his wife, Doris J. Beam Markel, who died July 28, 2002.

Dale was employed as a sanitation worker and retired from the Waste Management Company in Camp Hill with 15 years of service. Also, he was a member of the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. A hard worker, Dale was also a loving father and husband, and had a quick sense of humor. He could strike up a conversation with anyone at anytime.

Surviving is his daughter, Darla S. Markel of Gardners. He is also survived by his brother Elwood Markel of Mechanicsburg and was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Ann Tedder and Jo Ann Markley.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. David Clark officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners.
