Dale Guise

Dale Emory Guise, 84, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 peacefully at home. He was born on October 22, 1931, in York Springs, PA to the late Emory Scott Guise and Edith (Lobaugh) Guise.

Dale graduated from York Springs High School in 1949 and later attended both Gettysburg College and Shippensburg College. He served in the US Army from 1951 through 1954 and was stationed in Germany for 18 months during the Korean War. Following his military service, Dale was a math teacher in the Bermudian Springs School District and then worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg for 29 years as a computer programmer. An avid sports fan, Dale also enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Janice (Brough) Guise of Carlisle; son, Jeffrey Guise of Dillsburg; and daughter, Cynthia Guise (John) Fusco of Pittsburgh. He will be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Kelsey Guise of Layton, Utah, Shawn Guise of Mechanicsburg, and Jane Fusco of Pittsburgh. One of 10 children his surviving siblings are Esther Yost, Ethel Beck, Glenn Guise, Laura Mansberger, and Lola Klinger. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ruth Guise, Robert Guise, Virginia Murtorff, and Mary Heisey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 North Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Please feel free to dress casually and share your remembrances of Dale with others who loved him.
