Christine C. Dahlmann Murphy, 90, formerly of Corning, NY and Greensburg, PA, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Thomas Fitzpatrick of Carlisle. Born in Greensburg, PA on September 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Christine Hamilton and Charles Dahlmann and was predeceased by her husband, John Raymond Murphy, who passed away in 1997.
Christine retired from Bell Telephone of PA as a personnel and communications manager. Playing golf and bridge, as well as attending the Westmoreland County Athletic Club were some of her favorite activities. She deeply loved her family, friends and the Lord.
Besides her daughter, Christine is survived by her son, John Murphy and his wife Suellen of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her brother, James Dahlmann; and her sister, Mary Jane Bytheway, both of Greensburg, PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Timothy Murphy, Susan Murphy, Ryan Murphy and his wife Amy and daughter Sidney Christine, and Thomas Fitzpatrick and his wife Ashley; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, E. J. and Charles Dahlmann and her sister, Margaret Randolph.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 12 noon in the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs, PA with the Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Corning, NY. The family was wonderfully supported by Celtic Hospice and memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Healthcare Hospice, 220 Wilson St. Suite 100, Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
