Charles R. Rasp, 89, of N. Middleton Twp., passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Green Ridge Village, Newville. He was born October 19, 1925 in Carlisle to the late John and Blanche Mellott Rasp.
Charles owned and operated his own construction and building business for 45 years and was a Navy veteran of WW II. Memberships included: First United Methodist Church, Carlisle, the American Legion # 674, VFW #7343, Springfield Indian Motorcycle Club of America, National Rifle Assoc., Mechanicsburg Club and the Eastern Museum of Motor Sport, Latimore, to which he donated many of the items featured on display. Organizations with life memberships included: Amateur Trap Shooters Assoc., St. Johns Lodge # 260 F & AM, Carlisle Fish & Game and the New Bloomfield Sportsman Assoc.
He is survived by his loving and devoted caretaker of many years, Audrey Seburn of Mechanicsburg. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Freda E. Mentzer Rasp who passed away March 20, 2004; his daughter, Jo Ellen Rasp and his partner, brother, and friend, Kenneth L. Rasp who passed away April 1, 2004.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens with honors by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
