Blaine “Tulsa” C. Grove, 73, of Gardners, PA passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 in Gettysburg, PA. He was born June 7, 1943 in Meadville, PA to the late Clarence Orlo Grove and Mildred Irene Setzer (Grove) Hargenrader.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Blaine served during the Cuban missile crisis. He retired from ABF Freight as a truck driver and previously worked for Dow Chemical as an oil field worker. Memberships included: American Legion South Mountain Post #674, Mt. Holly Springs, Eagles Aerie #1299, Carlisle and Teamsters Local #776. Blaine was also a member of Mounds United Methodist Church, Mounds, OK, but attended church locally at the Toland Mission Church, Toland, PA. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Blaine loved attending Bluegrass Festivals and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. An accomplished handyman, his family called him Mr. Fixit. Blaine loved his family, especially his six great grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara C. Grove of Gardners, PA; two sons, Duane E. Grove and Deon L. Grove, both of Mounds, OK; four grandchildren, Mendy Kennedy of Newville, PA; Nicole Lehman of Carlisle, PA; Melissa Gregory of Sapulpa, OK; and Kristopher Grove of Mounds, OK; and six great grandchildren, Dominik, Madisen, Aaliyah, Jordan, Emma and Noah. Also surviving is his step-brother, Charles Hargenrader of Elmira, NY; and his beloved dog, Kane. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Ronald, Roger and Winton Grove and Edith Madden, and step-siblings, Orrie Hargenrader and Mary Bowser.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Leon Blosser officiating and Rev. Charles Hargenrader and Rev. Bill Hargenrader co-officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, starting at 11:00 AM until the service time, at the Funeral Home.
