Betty A. Spertzel, 86, formerly of Gardners, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Manor Care, Carlisle. She was the widow of Paul S. Spertzel Sr. who passed away May 15, 1994. Betty was born September 19, 1926 in Carlisle to the late Ira O. and Annie Mae Trump Day. She was a life member of the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church. Sewing, cooking and tending to her garden and flowers were Betty’s favorite activities.
She is survived by her son, Paul S. (Margaret) Spertzel Jr.; granddaughter, Tammy (Patrick) Kunkel; two great grandchildren, Nicole and Tyler Kunkel, all of Gardners; and her companion, Galen Shank of East Berlin. Betty was predeceased by a grandson, Robert P. Spertzel; three brothers, Elmer (Pete) Day, William F. Day and Melvin (Nub) Day; and a sister, Mary E. Day Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 08, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA with the Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Victory Cemetery. A viewing, the day of services, will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manor Care, 940 Walnut Bottom, Carlisle, PA 17015 or to the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 McLand Drive, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
