Bernice L. Cawley, 90, and formerly of Duke St, Lebanon, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. She was the widow of Dennis J. Cawley who passed away March 2, 1987. Bernice was born September 23, 1922 in Mt. Holly Springs to the late Ellis Quay and Maude Stohm Fahnestock.
Bernice graduated from Boiling Springs High School Class of 1940, attended Shippensburg Collage, and graduated from the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1943. A Registered Nurse for 75 years, she retired from the Veterans Administration and was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy Nurse Corps. Bernice was a devoted mother and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Maureen C. (Rick) Hines of Holland, Ohio and her daughter-in- law, Christina Cawley of Lebanon. She was predeceased by her son Kevin Cawley. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Moira Cawley of California, Brendan and Sean Cawley, both of Lebanon and Conan Hines of New York City, and three great grandchildren. Bernice is survived by two sisters, Dorothee DeBolt of Lebanon and Phyliss Lowe of Lancaster; five brothers, Curtis, Donald and Max Fahnestock, all of Mt. Holly Springs and Duane and David Fahnestock, both of Palmyra; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 PM, January 22, 2013 in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
