Beatrice Murphy

Beatrice Abbigale Vanasdlen Murphy, 98, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, PA passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the Cumberland County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA. She was born August 27, 1917 in Newville, PA to the late George H. and Annabel Rife Vanasdlen and was the widow of Charles A. Murphy who passed away August 2, 2004. Beatrice was a housewife, an avid gardener and loved living by the creek.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce E. Murphy Bixler of Carlisle; 2 grandsons, Michael L. (Linda) Bixler of Mt. Holly Springs and Jeffrey L. Bixler of Carlisle; 8 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; her caretaker, Dana Shultz of Boiling Springs and many nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased by her son-in-law, Harold L. Bixler and siblings, George, Albert, James, Dorothy Nickel, Ruth May and Hazel May and one great grandchild.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the HollingerFuneral Home & Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs, PA.
