Anna Mae Neff Yohe, 95, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born May 2, 1919 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. and Nina Tirza Eckles Neusbaum and the widow of Maynard W. Neff and Lester A. Yohe.

Anna Mae graduated from Carlisle High School and earned her teaching degree from Shippensburg Teacher’s College; she played the French horn in both school bands. With 43 years of service, Anna Mae retired from the Carlisle School District having taught at the elementary level and at the Lamberton Middle School: she started her career in a one room school in Middlesex Twp. Community minded, Anna Mae was a member of: PASR, AAUW and a past board member, DAR, the Shippensburg University Development Committee, the Church of God Home Personnel Committee and was a peer mentor at Dickinson College. Also a member of the First Church of God, Mechanicsburg, she was the first female elder at her church. Always athletic and active, Anna Mae was a member of the Silver Sneakers program at Gold’s Gym, Carlisle until the last few weeks of her life. She loved to travel and was a friend to all.

She is survived by her son, M. Wayne (Janet A.) Neff of Lewisberry, PA and eight grandchildren, Terri Johnson of Mechanicsburg, Timothy Neff (Cathy) of Etters, Julianne Neff of Camp Hill, Scott Weisel of Lancaster, William Harral (Susan) of Keene Valley, NY, Leslie Seibel of Annapolis, MD, Jeffery Weisel of Keene, NH, and Todd Harral (Susan) of Mechanicsburg. Anna Mae was predeceased by two brothers, Forest Neusbaum and Harry T. Neusbaum and a sister, Dorothy Starry.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Mechanicsburg First Church of God, 28 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with the Rev. Tracy Connors officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Project Share of Carlisle, 5 N. Orange St., Suite 4, Carlisle, PA 17013 or New Hope Ministries, 5228 E. Trindle Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs is handling the arrangements.
