Alvey Keefer Jr.

Alvey J. Keefer Jr., 85, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his home. He was born September 6, 1930 in Mercersburg, PA to the late Alvey J. and Bessie Mae Burrall Keefer Sr. Alvey retired from PPG Industries and was a former carpenter by trade. He was a member of the Mt Zion United Methodist Church, VFW Post # 7343, American Legion Post # 674, and the White Circle. Alvey dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed country music. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Surviving is his loving wife, Velma R. Kopp Keefer; two sons, Ronald E. (Nancy) Keefer of Mechanicsburg and David L. (Tammie) Keefer of Carlisle; three daughters, Sandra K. (Dale) Myers of Carlisle, Carolyn R. (Dennis) Lehman of Lowell, OH and Diana L. (Stuart) Moses of Nashville, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Richard Keefer of Biglerville and Virgie Baker of Gettysburg. He was predeceased by his daughter, Wanda Sue Keefer who passed away August, 1951; a grandson, Aaron Kristopher Moses; a great granddaughter, Emma Lehman; brothers, Edward and Roy; and sisters, Mary Seburn, Esther Henry and Marian Keefer.

Funeral services will be held in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt Holly Springs, PA 17065 on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Matthew D. Plant officiating. A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday, Interment will be held in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, with honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
