Ada M. Fahnestock, 85, of Mt. Holly Springs passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Holy Spirit Hospital. She was born November 21st, 1928 in South Middleton Twp. to the late Mervin F. & Juanita Myers Minnich. Ada retired from the former Reeves Hoffman and was a former employee of Arnold’s Food Mart and C.H. Masland & Son. She was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, joining in 1948. Active in the church, Ada helped with theturkey dinners and many other church activities. She loved to bake for her family, enjoyed her flowers, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, birdwatching, going to her cabins in Franklin and Potter Counties, and traveling with her twin sister.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Fahnestock, to whom she was married to for 66 years; two sons, Bradford E. and Kirby L., all of Mt. Holly Springs and; two grandsons,Quay of Dubai, UAE, and Cory of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are three sisters, June DeVanie; her twin, Mary M. Slyder, both of Carlisle and Doris J. Miller of Manchester, PA. She was predeceased by her brother, Mervin B. Minnich.
Private services will be at her church. A memorial meal and gathering will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 16th, 2014 in the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler St, Mt. Holly Springs, PA. RSVP will be appreciated but not required. Friends and family are welcome. Guests may feel free to bring a covered dish, if you have pictures of Ada, you would like to share, please feel free to bring them.
